I love reading stories to children. I have several kids in my family that enjoy the wonderful experience of story time. Reading is important to help children recognize words and understand context. Reading stories to children introduces them to new words and phrases and is also a great way to model pronunciation. We live in a world full of distractions and if we can teach children to focus and follow along they can improve their listening skills. Stories can broaden a child’s environment and expose them to new situations. When young children listen to a story, they have the opportunity to identify feelings and behaviors in others.
